James Clugston Live

James is a singer songwriter, and though he mostly plays guitar now, for decades he was a professional drummer, James is a founding member of the “locally famous” Grenville Troubadours of Kemptville.

James grew up in Japan where rat-a-tat-tatting with chopsticks eventually led to a long career behind the drumset. The varied list of people he has played drums with includes Cal & Libby, The Alta Vista Social Club, Rick Fines, Suzie Vinnick, Floyd Bell, Souper Jazz/Cup-A-Soup jazz bands, Les Voyageurs, the Canadian Embassy Bog Band in Tokyo, Mobius (jazz-fusion Tokyo), Buzz Thompson, Bobby Watson, the CeeDees, and Douglas John Cameron. In the last few years, James has played drums in the pit band for two stage shows in Kemotville: We’ll Meet Again and Shake Rattle and Roll.

Some of James’ musical influences include James Taylor, Jan Tyson, Pete Seeger, Vince Gill, Tony Rice, Steve Gadd and Stan Rogers among others.

James lives in the town of Merrickville and makes music wherever he finds the inspiration and other musicians to harmonize with.
